MSU baseball player selected by Tigers

Sophomore catcher Kyle Day and junior left-hander Jon Kibler were selected in the 2007 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, which concluded Friday. Day was selected in the 19th round by the Chicago Cubs, while Kibler went in the 30th round to the Detroit Tigers.

In addition, MSU had three players from their incoming freshman class who were selected in the draft. Kyle Kaminska (Naperville, Ill.) was picked in the 25th round by the Florida Marlins, Jonathon Roof (Paducah, Ky.) was selected in the 39th round by the Boston Red Sox and Tyler Newsome (Palos Heights, Ill.) was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 49th round.
