A single "T" is enough for city officials to recommend the formation of a committee. The East Lansing City Council will decide on the creation of a committee to discuss the renaming of Abbott Road during the council's meeting at 7:30 p.m. today in City Hall, 410 Abbott Road. The council has discussed the possible renaming of the road several times this semester.
During a March 13 council meeting, Community Development Analyst Ron Springer told the council members the road was originally named "Abbot," for Theophilus Capen Abbot, president of the State Agricultural College from 1862-85. If appointed, the committee would have 90 days to reach a decision on whether to rename the road.
