As the producer and one of several co-directors of the first three large-scale "The Vagina Monologues" productions performed at MSU, I would like to express how delighted and proud I am that this show and the V-Day celebrations have continued and grown.
In the first three years, we raised nearly $15,000 for local domestic violence shelters, such as MSU's Safe Place. Thank you to the hundreds of women and men who have carried on and supported this important production.
In a university setting, where students are here for only four years and then move on, taking their passions and activism with them, it is a testament to the event's social significance and ability to help both men and women understand their sexual lives that this show has become an enduring fixture on campus.
While following coverage of this year's show in the letters to the editor section, I was happy to see the outpouring of support from men in response to one lone accusation that the show is an assault on men. Thanks everyone!
