Police briefs 03/23/06

A 21-year-old East Lansing woman was hit by a car near the intersection of West Circle Drive and the Beal Street campus entrance at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.McGlothian-Taylor said she did not know whether the woman is an MSU student. A 39-year-old Lansing woman was stopped at the intersection in a four-door Jeep Cherokee. She said she looked to the left and waited for cars to pass, then started to drive, not seeing the pedestrian. The pedestrian said she was walking while talking on her cell phone and noticed the Jeep coming, but thought the car was going to stop.The Jeep hit the pedestrian when she stepped out into the crosswalk. The driver was found at fault and the pedestrian was taken to the hospital. McGlothian-Taylor said she does not know the details of the pedestrian's injuries, but said she has since been released from the hospital.A 19-year-old student reported that a 23-year-old Roseville man entered her Rather Hall room at about 11 p.m. Monday and poured a 2-liter bottle of urine onto the floor, McGlothian-Taylor said. He then threw the bottle, hitting the student in the head, she said. The student said she owed money to a female student who was with the man. The man was arrested for assault and battery and entry without permission. He was issued a trespassing letter, which forbids him from coming to campus for one year.The case is still under investigation.Melissa Domsic
