A student was arrested for embezzling more than $330 from the Sparty's Convenience Store in the Communication Arts and Sciences Building, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said. The student allegedly stole the money while he was working at the store between Jan. 26 and March 2, McGlothian-Taylor said. The case is being forwarded to the Ingham County Prosecutor's Office. A 26-year-old university employee reported finding a counterfeit $100 bill in the Administration Building cash office. The employee reported the incident on Tuesday, and the Secret Service will continue the investigation. This is the second counterfeit bill found in the office in the past few weeks — on Feb. 28, a 26-year-old university employee reported finding a counterfeit $50 bill.Two students, ages 18 and 19, reported their iPods stolen from their East Akers room between 2 and 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, McGlothian-Taylor said. The room was unlocked and one student was in the room sleeping. When he awoke, he noticed the two $300 iPods missing.A 19-year-old student is suspected of possessing bottle rockets at Emmons Hall on Wednesday, McGlothian-Taylor said. Two other students said people shot the bottle rockets toward them as they were returning to the residence hall between 1:15 and 1:30 a.m., but they were not hit or injured. The suspect's roommate said the fireworks belonged to the suspect. Officers were unable to contact the suspect, and the case is still under investigation.A 19-year-old student reported the peephole missing from her East Wilson Hall door and that someone was peeking into it between Sunday and Tuesday, McGlothian-Taylor said. Other peepholes in the hall had also been tampered with or removed.Melissa Domsic
