Plenty of music acts scheduled at Wharton

The fall season is filled with big names and a wide variety of musical styles at the Wharton Center. Here's a glimpse of the musical acts hitting the local stage.

Emmylou Harris

When: Sept. 21

Cost: $27-47

Where: Cobb Great Hall

Quick facts: The singer/songwriter was born in Birmingham, Ala., and was the valedictorian of her high school. Harris sang with Bob Dylan on his album "Desire" and is a Grammy winner.


Chris Botti

When: Oct. 8

Cost: $25-45

Where: Cobb Great Hall

Quick facts: The pop-jazz trumpeter was recently picked as one of "People" magazine's "50 Most Beautiful People."


CeCe Winans

When: Oct. 13

Cost: $25-38

Where: Cobb Great Hall

Quick facts: Winans is a six-time Grammy winner with seven solo albums under her belt.


Audra McDonald

When: Sept. 15

Cost: $25-38

Where: Cobb Great Hall

Quick facts: The singer and actress has won Tony Awards for "Carousel," "Master Class," "Ragtime" and "A Raisin in the Sun." She was born in Berlin and raised in Fresno, Calif.


The King's Singers

When: Nov. 8

Cost: $20-35

Where: Cobb Great Hall

Quick facts: The group formed in 1968 at King's College in Cambridge, England.


Michigan Opera Theatre: "Barber of Seville"

When: Nov. 29

Cost: $25-78

Where: Cobb Great Hall

Quick facts: This is the prequel to Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro." He is the barber you call on when you need anything.


London Philharmonic Orchestra with Kurt Masur

When: Dec. 1

Cost: $25-78

Where: Cobb Great Hall

Quick facts: Germany native Masur is the music director of the Orchestre National de France in Paris, the principal conductor of the London Philharmonic and a former music director of the New York Philharmonic.


Royal Winnipeg Ballet: "Dracula"

When: Sept. 26

Cost: $25-42

Where: Cobb Great Hall

Quick facts: The production includes flying bats and frolicking gargoyles. It has sold out across Canada and is currently doing well in China.


Ellis Marsalis

When: Oct. 21

Cost: $38

Where: Pasant Theatre

Quick facts: Ellis Marsalis, a jazz pianist, is the father of Wynton Marsalis, who performed earlier this year at the Wharton, and has taught Harry Connick Jr. and Terence Blanchard.


TS Monk with Rachael Price

When: Dec. 8

Cost: $38

Where: Pasant Theatre

Quick facts: Price was the youngest competitor at the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition.
