I don't know about everyone else, but I'm getting a little tired of hearing from the self-hating Katie Wilcox. Her newest attack, "Silence 'Monologues;' keep indecency out" (SN 2/24), trying to slander the incredibly moving and powerful " The Vagina Monologues," really demonstrates an important fact that she and her fellow "Young Americans for Fascism" truly have no real political platform other than trying to derail the social progressions being made in society.
As a man, I have gone to "The Vagina Monologues" every year that I have been in town and have always found it an enlightening and moving experience not something filled with hatred, sexual perversion or assault against men.
I wonder if Wilcox and I are talking about the same show.
"The Vagina Monologues" I've seen have moved me to tears at the way women have reclaimed power over their minds and bodies, declaring that they will no longer accept their genitalia being seen as evil, wrong, disgusting or inferior.
I have seen nothing from Wilcox and her compatriots that honors or respects much of anyone on this campus other than those who follow their very narrowly defined view of morals.
"The Vagina Monologues" is a beautiful production that reaches out to both men and women in ways that can truly challenge patriarchy something that clearly scares those involved in Young Americans for Freedom, or YAF, who thrive on a system of oppression.
