In her fourth State of the State Address, Gov. Granholm outlined a concrete and aggressive agenda for diversifying Michigan's economy, creating new jobs and protecting all Michigan families. It is clear that Granholm is the right woman to lead our state.
She has a proven record of success as a governor. Her administration has created or retained 327,000 jobs, developed a plan to invest $2 billion in building a diverse 21st Century economy and helped over 19,000 out-of-work Michiganians find work through the MI Opportunity Partnership. Ninety-nine thousand more people are working today than when the Governor took office in 2002.
She also has a plan to build on these accomplishments. The governor has proposed an innovative Michigan First Health Care Plan that will give more than 500,000 uninsured individuals access to affordable health insurance. She is committed to dramatic new investments in education and the quality of our state's schools, increasing access to higher education and producing the best-educated workforce in America. Her plan also aims to increase the opportunities of working families by raising the minimum wage and helping workers save for retirement.
Gov. Granholm has a proven record, and she has a plan to move Michigan forward. When she ran for governor four years ago, MSU students overwhelming supported her. We would be wise to do so again in November.
