I am a proud MSU graduate. I feel our university is second to none academically and morally.
As a sports fan, I feel that our university family deserves the kinds of athletics that make us proud. I'm speaking of coaches and players who execute their prowess to the best of their abilities.
Our basketball program has exceeded my expectations. Our football team has not met my expectations.
Our players and coaches do not perform to their capabilities late in games or in most big games. The team has one Rose Bowl appearance in the 30 years I've been affiliated with the school. That should be three appearances if MSU were going for just its mathematical share.
I have to believe the problem is coaching. I think most alumni would be satisfied if our players played hard and smart late in games. Those two attributes are directly influenced by coaching.
