Not only is the men's basketball team splashed across multiple pages in The State News, the boys are seen giving Tom Izzo noogies after the Kentucky game, proudly wearing their Final Four T-shirts after the buzzer sounds and holding up their precious string from the basketball net all across newspapers and screens around the country. People who aren't even interested in basketball know our men. Everyone knows our men - well, everyone that should.
My jaw dropped when I heard Jim Nantz and Billy Packer calling Kelvin Torbert "Torbet" and mistaking Maurice Ager for Shannon Brown, calling him one of the many "Mr. Basketballs" we snagged.
Remember, the game wasn't on a local channel, try the one and only sports crazy ESPN. It's obvious they haven't been following MSU that well if they're messing up our big players names - calling Ager "Agar" when we played Duke. But then again, who are we? It's not like we can beat any big teams.
I would suggest ESPN national commentators do their share of studying up on our team. It's embarrassing for me to hear them slaughter our players' names. ESPN, we will be playing on your station again real soon. Get the names right.
