Where is the student support for the MSU women's basketball team? Not to insult the few students that do attend these games, but it is baffling to me that a top 10 team battling for the Big Ten title draws such minimal interest from a student body of more than 40,000 people.
The atmosphere is fantastic with the band and cheerleaders; the team is hard-working, improving every game (and year), and the cost of tickets is minimal. It seems to me that all those students that couldn't get Izzone tickets (and those complaining that they did) would find these games a welcome alternative.
I challenge the students of MSU to look at program support at University of Tennessee and University of Connecticut, where similarly successful teams often equal or surpass their men's teams in attendance. The Feb. 20 game versus Ohio State could be for the school's first women's basketball title. It's time for the MSU student body to start giving these ladies, and this program, the support they deserve.
