If Chad Halsey wants to talk about partisan voting problems "Ohio election needs to be investigated" (SN 1/10), he need not point fingers without taking a deep look into his own party as well. A wise proverb is "don't throw stones if you live in a glass house." He needs to heed that advice before making asinine statements to the public.
There were voting machines that showed up in Philadelphia in largely Democratic precincts with votes already tallied on them. That is unusual, don't you think? I always thought that no one could vote other than by absentee ballot prior to the polls opening. That state was a tighter margin than was Ohio, and I don't see anyone contesting there.
Further, look at the gubernatorial race in Washington. There, a Republican won in the initial vote, and there were two recounts before 2000 ballots were found in a warehouse. He ended up losing by less than 200 votes and you don't see any demand for further recounts and investigations.
In short, I think that the Democratic Party has fallen from its former place of respectability to a new low of bias - hypocrites who serve no purpose other than investigations and stone throwing while neglecting to tend to their own glass house. Neither party is perfect, but at least Republicans can lose with class.
