When I order a double cheeseburger, I don't force-feed you half of my French fries. When I order a draught, I don't funnel a third of it down your throat. When I light up a cigarette, however, I do force you to enjoy it with me; whether you wish to or not.
Therein lies the difference. It is fine for me to make an uninformed and unhealthy decision and harm myself. It is not fine for me to make an uninformed and unhealthy decision and harm you in so doing. I for one - of many - would love to watch smokers huddle shoulder to shoulder on Grand River Avenue in February shaking and frozen to the bone as they suck the sweet nectar of death from their rancid little cancer sticks.
