This is in response to Tim Phelps' letter, "Distribute ASMSU's funding to students" (SN 11/30), regarding the $600,000 that ASMSU is "sitting" on.
First of all, I am all in favor of receiving money, always. However, as noble an idea as it is to have them give it back to students, it's a little misplaced. Let's say that, for sake of even numbers, MSU now has 45,000 students. Split $600,000 in 45,000 ways, and you have $13.33 going to each person. While this could get a large pizza and a soda, this isn't going to bust my budget at all.
I would have to say that ASMSU has a lot of good intentions and that if it wants to improve the university, let it.
