Ferguson meddles in Spartan athletics

After recovering from my disappointment from the football game this weekend, I realized how proud I was of our team and our coaching staff. Then I read The State News endorsed Joel Ferguson for trustee. I began to remember how Ferguson publicly criticized MSU for firing Bobby Williams after we were embarrassed 49-3 at the University of Michigan.

It was Ferguson who suggested that Bobby Williams wasn't given a fair shot because of his race. It was Ferguson who publicly stated his anger over the hiring of John L. Smith. It was Ferguson who made a racial controversy out of MSU firing a bad coach who had lost his team.

After watching our team play with more heart than they ever showed under Bobby Williams, I'm glad Athletics Director Ron Mason was smart enough not to listen to him. Ferguson has made a habit out of meddling into MSU athletics where he has no place. Performances like this weekend would never have been possible if Ferguson had his way.

It's too bad The State News forgot the harm he's caused and decided to tell their readers to give him another term.
