You're welcome, Lindsey K. Anderson.
I am one of the 51 percent of Americans who voted to re-elect President Bush.
However, I am a pro-environment, anti-capital punishment, free-thinking Catholic conservative. I also wear Birkenstocks and listen to Bob Marley.
By the way, I'm not a Bible-thumping ignoramus as Anderson seems to imply. Interestingly enough, she has been accepted to the same school as me, allowing me to draw the conclusion that I am every bit as intelligent as she is.
After reading Anderson's column ("Thank you, supporters of President Bush, for four years of tyranny" SN 11/16), it is of no surprise to me that the Democrats lost the election. Liberals have labeled people with conservative political viewpoints as intellectual inferiors before, during and after the election.
This delusional immaturity goes straight to the top with the likes of James Carville and Michael Moore. Why would voters cast a ballot for a political party that constantly disparages them? Fifty-one percent of Americans proved that this conservative-bashing strategy backfired.
And finally, the Democrats have been harping on unity for some time now. Does Anderson sound like a person who is willing to give and take to enable our country to be unified?
I think not. It's either her way, or the highway. Problem being, many people share her attitude amongst the ranks of liberals. Until Democrats grow up and deal with the issues at hand in an adult fashion, I feel that the Republicans will continue to gain power in the House and Senate and maintain control of the White House for years to come.
