Izzone ticket policy punishes students

The MSU Athletics Department and the Student Alumni Foundation have dropped the ball on the new student season ticket policy for the upcoming basketball season.

Students who have been purchasing regular student tickets during the past 3-4 years are being punished because they are not part of the Izzone. In the past students had a choice as to whether they wanted to be a part of the Izzone or not. The important point is - they had a choice. They had a choice to camp out for prime seating location, Izzone T-shirts and the bragging rights to say that they were in the Izzone. However, students that didn't want this had a choice. They had the choice to pay for regular student tickets for three years knowing that in their fourth and final year they would have the privilege of sitting in the lower bowl.

With this change in policy, the students' choice is taken away. Now we are forced to camp out for an entire weekend in order to get student tickets under this Izzone-only policy. This is the thanks we get for supporting the university and the basketball program during our time at MSU. I hope students remember this insult when they eventually get that call after graduation asking for a donation to MSU and treat the university and Athletics Department the same way you've been treated.
