Crew finishes top five at Central Regionals

Women's crew took fifth place with 303 points at the Central/Southern Regional Championship Sunday and placed fourth in the Central Region at the two-day event in Knoxville, Tenn.

Three of MSU's boats reached the finals.

The A-Flight varsity eight and the A-Flight varsity four qualified for the B-Flight finals. The varsity eight took first place with a time of 6:49.9. The varsity four also finished first in their flight with a time of 7:47.3.

The second varsity eight reached the A-Flight for its last event. The boat took third place in the final with a time of 6:50.6, placing behind Virginia, which won the event and the Spartans were just edged by Michigan, which finished in second place by defeating MSU by one second

MSU looks to receive a bid to continue onto the NCAA National Championship Regatta taking place over the weekend of Friday, May 28. The selections will be announced May 18.

If MSU receives the bid it will be the seventh consecutive season the Spartans receive a bid.
