Women's tennis tops Purdue, falls to Illinois

April 21, 2004

MSU women's tennis split its matches over the weekend, defeating No. 58 Purdue but falling to No. 17 Illinois.

On Saturday, the Spartans captured the doubles point, and senior Caroline Lay and freshmen Pascale Schnitzer and Jessica Baron each posted wins en route to the 4-3 victory against Purdue.

The next day, MSU didn't see the same luck, falling to the Fighting Illini, 7-0, and dropping to 8-11 overall and 3-5 in the Big Ten.

The Spartans host Wisconsin and Northwestern this weekend to end the home season.
