An MSU police officer encountered a man peeking into windows at the University Village apartment complex on Sunday while on patrol, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.The officer saw the man looking into several windows and then saw him stop by a small bathroom window for about five minutes.When the officer attempted to make contact with the man, the man began to run, but stopped shortly after the officer shouted for him to stop and get on the ground.The man, a 44-year-old Lansing resident with no university affiliation, was issued a citation and given a trespass letter for having no business on university grounds.It also was discovered that the man was in violation of his parole, so he was lodged at the Ingham County Jail in Mason, McGlothian-Taylor said. A 23-year-old male student told police his backpack was stolen from an IM Sports-West basketball court on Monday, McGlothian-Taylor said.The man said he left the bag on the floor against a wall while he played basketball. A short time later, he noticed the bag, which included his wallet, credit cards, identification, clothes and glasses, was missing. He told police he didn't notice anyone take the bag.Police have no suspects.
