Armenian genocide focus of lecture, vigil

Guest lectures and a vigil on campus Saturday will commemorate the 89th anniversary of the beginning of the Armenian genocide. Dennis Papazian from the University of Michigan at Dearborn will speak on the historical context of the genocide, which took place in 1915 under the Ottoman Turkish government.

Yn. Rosalie Papazian will be speaking on the state of Armenia based on her experiences during a recent visit.

A candlelight vigil at the rock on Farm Lane will follow, with Rev. Father Diran Papazian presiding over the commemoration.

The talks will take place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Room N100 of the Business College Complex, with the vigil immediately following.
