Like the popular TLC television show "While You Were Out," MSU's Division of Housing and Food Services will decorate a lucky resident's dorm room while he or she is on vacation.

Next fall, one resident will move back to MSU in style - in a dorm room complete with new furnishings, storage, bedding, rugs, accessories and more.

Sharri Margraves, director of "Spartan Makeovers Present a Room 4U," said the program will be conducted just like the popular show.

"A host from Focal Point will film the winner before we make over the room and see what they are like," she said. "Then, after we make over the room, we will film their reaction."

To enter, students must submit an entry stating in 50 words or less why they believe they deserve a room makeover. Entries are due in the residence hall manager's office by 5 p.m. Feb. 13.

The makeover will come from an MSU interior design student, and Margraves said the video-taped diary will be aired during a premiere party for the winner.

"This really is a cool idea and a great opportunity for someone," she said. "I hope a lot of people turn in really great entries and that they make it incredibly hard for us to pick a winner."
