Wrestling hits road for tough matches

January 30, 2004

MSU wrestling will face No. 5 Michigan and No. 10 Iowa this weekend.

The Spartans defeated the Wolverines last year when the teams met at Jenison Field House. This year, the Wolverines have won against both Iowa and Minnesota.

The Spartans defeated the Hawkeyes last year after a 19-19 tie, after MSU had more falls during the match. MSU redshirt freshman Andy Simmons was pinned by Iowa's Cliff Moore at the Midlands Championships earlier this season.

The Spartans have dropped four dual meets this season. MSU hasn't had four losses in a row since the 2001-2002 season. The last time the Spartans lost five dual meets in a row was during the 2000-2001 season.
