MSU swimming and diving lost both its weekend road meets as the women's and men's teams each fell to Northwestern and Purdue.
On Friday, the men's team (3-5 overall, 0-3 Big Ten) went down, 129-111, to the No. 16 Wildcats, while the women's team lost, 136-105, in Evanston, Ill.
Sophomore Ian Clutten took top honors in the breaststroke along with sophomore Courtney Ellabarger for the women. The women's squad (1-7, 0-4) finished first in both relay events.
The losses weren't as close on Saturday in West Lafayette, Ind., as the men's team fell to the Boilermakers, 190-105, and the women's team lost, 184.5-112.5.
For the women's team, freshman Katie Edwards captured the one-meter diving event and sophomore Rudolf Wagenaar won the 100 backstroke for the men.
