Swimming and Diving teams beat Ball State

The men's and women's swimming and diving teams return victorious from Muncie, Ind., where they faced Ball State on Sunday. The men's team won, 141-102, and the women obtained a 126-117 victory.

Sophomore David Habel finished first in the 1,000 freestyle with sophomore Rudolf Wagenaar close behind. Wagenaar also took a runner-up spot in the 200 free and contributed to the winning 400-yard medley relay team with sophomores Ian Clutten, Nick Harley and Matt Wisniewski.

The Spartans grabbed first and second in the 200 fly with Habel and freshman Erik Williams finishing in 1:56.78 and 1:59.12, respectively.

The diving team also did well with junior Justin Laskowski taking first in the 3-meter board.

For the women's team, sophomore Tesla Hughes won the 1,000 free with a time of 10:29.92, the 200 free with a time of 1:56.43 and the 500 free at 5:11.41.

Freshman Eve Brusie also tallied a win for the Spartans in the 50 free with a time of 24.63 seconds.

The women's diving team took first and second places by freshmen Katie Edwards and Amy Schmidt on the 3-meter board with marks of 262.85 and 241.95.
