Old Spartans not scoring points

The highlighted week usually is an indicator of the waning clock on the season.

As Week 13 approaches, most fantasy leagues are in the final two or three weeks - meaning owners looking to make that last push better do it now or forget about the postseason.

Stevie E. says start 'em

Coming off two huge weeks, Indianapolis running back Edgerrin James is back and on a mission.

In his last two games, the former stud running back has reached the end zone five times, clearing the 100-yard barrier not once, but twice.

Barring any setbacks, look for James to carry your squad across the finish line this season.

Consider starting Dallas quarterback Quincy Carter on his Thanksgiving Day matchup against Miami.

Carter is gaining confidence each week, posting big numbers and making himself a candidate for your lineup.

Be sure to stuff your starting lineup with Green Bay Packers, as they face Detroit on Thanksgiving.

Running back Ahman Green's numbers have been groundbreaking for defenses. Don't expect that to change on Thursday when he meets the weak Detroit defense.

Styf says sit 'em

Make sure you continue to sit Washington Redskins running back Trung Canidate. He continues to struggle and will not improve.

Cowboys running back Troy Hambrick also has not produced of late. He ran for just 26 yards last week and should stay on the bench.

At 6-foot-5, the Green Bay Packers are in the hunt for the NFC North title. Packers wide receiver Donald Driver, however, hasn't helped the Packers' playoff push much and should sit on the bench.

Maybe the biggest surprise of the fantasy football season has been the struggles of Drew Bledsoe. Despite putting up 11 fantasy points last weekend, he is not worth the start.

Stevie E. says add 'em

Even though most leagues have cut off the free-agent valve for the latter weeks of the season, there are still a few choice contributors available.

Baltimore quarterback Anthony Wright threw for more than 300 yards and multiple touchdowns in the Ravens comeback victory over Seattle last week.

Also consider Minnesota running back Michael Bennett, who ran for 73 yards and a touchdown in the Vikings victory over Detroit on Sunday.

Bennett, who returned this month from an injury, could see increased playing time in the season's final weeks.

Styf scouts the Spartans

The new Spartans star in the NFL is Texans quarterback Tony Banks. With starter David Carr injured, Banks has gone 2-1 in recent weeks as the starter.

Steelers wide receiver Plaxico Burress is still playing poorly. Don't start him this weekend and consider dropping him from your team.

T.J. Duckett, Derrick Mason and Muhsin Muhammad all struggled last week, so former Spartans had very little success.

The best Spartan last weekend was actually Chicago Bears place-kicker Paul Edinger, who made 4-of-4 field goals.
