WEB ONLY: Field hockey beats No. 7 Penn State, 4-2

The No. 6 MSU field hockey team hammered its way to a 4-2 victory over No. 7 Penn State on Saturday.

The team, led by head coach Michele Madison, held a shutout for nearly half of the game before Penn State senior Timarie Legel was able to strike a goal past Spartans goalie Christina Kirkaldy MSU (12-4 overall, 4-1 Big Ten) gained a lead early in the game when midfielder Jennifer Beeuwkes scored by deflecting a pass from midfielder Annebet Beerman. Other goals scored against the Nittany Lions were scored by Beerman, Alexandra Kyser and Jessica Miller.

The win comes before the team's final regular season game scheduled for Friday against No. 18 Ohio State. The game will be at 5 p.m. in the MSU Field Hockey Complex.
