The USA Today/American Hockey Magazine Men's Hockey Poll was released Monday, placing the MSU Hockey team at No. 11.

MSU finished at No. 15 last year with a 23-14-2 record.

Two-time defending national champion Minnesota ranks No. 1, earning 25 first-place votes, while CCHA rival Michigan is ranked second, receiving three first-place tallies.

Boston College, New Hampshire and North Dakota round out the top five.

The Spartans open their season Thursday in the Green and White exhibition game, continuing exhibition play on Sunday against Windsor at Munn Ice Arena.
