Group holds CraneFest

Michigan Audubon Society's CraneFest will be held on Oct. 11-12 at Battle Creek Kiwanis Youth Area.

The nonprofit organization's free event will offer a variety of events including crane viewing, an art show and sale, book signing, guided nature walks and a nature photo workshop. The festival also features "Sandy" the Sandhill Crane, on loan from Kellogg Bird Sanctuary. Live hawks, falcons and owls will also be on display.

CraneFest is intended to gain support for the conservation projects of Michigan Audubon Society and Baker Sanctuary, the society's first sanctuary.
