Police briefs 03/27/03

A 34-year-old nonuniversity-affiliated man reported someone stole keys to his 2001 Ford Econoline 15-passenger van Tuesday from an unlocked locker near the racquetball court in IM Sports-West, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.The thief then used the keys to steal the van from the parking lot on the west side of the building. The van is valued at $18,000 and its Michigan license plate number is 7BCK52. The van also had the man's tools in it, but their value was not estimated. Police have no suspects.• A 20-year-old male student reported stolen hockey equipment valued at about $500 out of a 1995 Ford Escort between Friday and Monday in Lot 91 by Service and Hagadorn roads, McGlothian-Taylor said.The car was previously in an accident and the door by the hatch couldn't be locked. Police have no suspects.• A 23-year-old male student reported someone stole more than $1,000 in property, including a Nikon camera valued at $700 and 25 CDs valued at $300, from an Isuzu Rodeo on Sunday in a parking lot by the Old Horticulture Building, McGlothian-Taylor said.The car was parked with its sunroof open. Police have no suspects.
