UAB to sponsor free game night Friday

The University Activities Board and the Brody Complex Residence Life staff are sponsoring "A Night in Vegas: Casino Style Games and Entertainment" from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday on the second floor of the Union.

Janelle Jacobs, assistant director of the board, said the event should be a fun-filled night.

"Last year, the event drew 1,000 people," she said. "This year, we're hoping to have as big of a crowd and even more fun than last year."

The event is free to students with a valid MSU ID. The first 400 students to attend the event receive a $5 coupon valid at the Union food court, One Union Square and Beaner's Gourmet Coffee.

Casino games such as black jack, roulette, craps, slot machines and poker will be available.

Players will be gambling with fake money in an attempt to win a three-day trip to New York City, a television, DVD player and a new bike among other prizes. The prize drawings will be done at 12:45 a.m. and students must be present to win.

Other entertainment includes an appearance by the 1999 World Champion Elvis impersonator, a magician and a jazz blues band playing various selections.
