The road has not been kind to the mens soccer team.
After compiling a 7-2 overall record, MSU has dropped three out of four games on its month-long road trip, the most recent a 2-0 loss at No. 20 Notre Dame Wednesday.
Though the Spartans (7-5, 1-3 Big Ten) were outshot 9-2 in the first half, senior goalkeeper Tyler Robinson had four major stops to keep the Fighting Irish (7-3-3) from striking the majority of the half.
But midfielder Chad Riley floated a header past Robinson with just over a minute left to give Notre Dame a 1-0 lead at the break.
The Irish continued its offensive assault through the second half, putting up 18 shots to MSUs one. Notre Dame again found net at 64:40, this time off a header from forward Devon Prescod.
Robinson made 11 saves between the posts for the Spartans in the loss, just short of his season-high. The netminder recorded 13 saves in a 3-0 win over Hartford Sept. 13.
MSUs other two losses this month were both 3-1 contests, the first coming Oct. 6 at Ohio State, and the second at Oakland Oct. 9.
Next, the Spartans travel to Penn State on Sunday for a 2 p.m. game with the Nittany Lions. MSU will wrap up its month-long road trip 3 p.m. Wednesday at Western Michigan before returning to Old College Field on Oct. 27 for its final home game of the season.
