Cultural center to host lunchtime events

The African Studies Center in 201 International Center will present two lecturers.

The African Studies Brown Bag with linguistics Professor Grover Hudson is on “Linguistic Analysis of the 1998 Ethiopian Census” at noon Thursday. Hudson will discuss a national census that shows the possible extinction of Ethiopian languages, as well as aspects of Ethiopian education, politics and ethnic identity.

The census reviewed data from different regions of Ethiopia based on gender, ethno-linguistic group and knowledge of a second language.

At noon Oct. 31 in the same room, sociology Professor Larry Busch will speak about “The Changing Global Food System: Implications for Africa.”
