Gaping holes in staffing have plagued ASMSU since the beginning of the school year, and the groups association director said he hopes the problem will be remedied by Oct. 18.
James Perra, who was named association director in late September, said he is trying desperately to fill six positions on the paid staff of MSUs undergraduate student government.
The director of technology and Web site affairs, the comptroller, the director of legislative affairs and the assistant director of legislative affairs all are open positions Perra said he hopes to fill.
Perra said the first position on the list is the director of technology and Web site affairs.
Theres been some bumps while hiring this person, Perra said, but the position hoepfully will be filled by Friday.
The person who takes this position will be awarded a financial incentive because of the disorganization of documents on the computers, as well as the condition of the them.
Itll require a little tweaking of the infrastructure, Perra said. If we get a savvy DOTWA, director of technology and Web site affairs, everything will be OK.
The comptroller position has been held by interim comptroller Nick McVay, and Perra said McVay will most likely hold on to the position through the year.
The director and assistant director of legislative affairs will have a lot of work to do within the organization, Perra said, because a number of legislative actions have been taken during the meetings.
These people are going to have their work cut out for them, he said.
Perra and Human Resources Director Derek Werner recently found out the positions of comptroller and executive assistant were open. But no one quit - they had never been hired.
I am hellbent to get a (programming board) interim comptroller, Perra said. This problems an hour and a half old, and I am going to fix it as soon as possible.
Engineering representative for the ASMSU Student Assembly Andrew Schepers said he was unhappy with the process the department of human resources went through to hire people.
Our human resources director was kind of lost and didnt have any direction, but now that James is there, he does, Schepers said. Hes going to make it sturdier than it was before.
Werner said he also feels more comfortable in his position now that an association director was hired.
The is my first involvement in ASMSU and I needed a lot of direction and I didnt know where to get it, Werner said. Im feeling more confident now and I think were on the right track with everything now.
