Tickets on sale for speech by activist

September 10, 2002

Tickets for “Rally for Peace: From Fears and Tears to Hope and Harmony,” a program featuring keynote speaker the Rev. Jesse Jackson, will be on sale at Breslin Center Box Office today.

Jackson has agreed to speak at MSU without a fee on Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. in light of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Although ASMSU has received verbal commitment from Jackson, no formal contract has been signed.

ASMSU is MSU’s undergraduate student government.

Jackson’s speech will focus on finding peace after the Sept. 11 attacks, said Louis Brown, ASMSU Student Assembly vice chairperson for external affairs.

Brown and MSU Trustee Joel Ferguson helped bring Jackson to MSU.

There are 5,500 tickets available for $5 for non students, and 2,000 students tickets are allotted to be given away free for students with valid IDs.

Ticket proceeds will pay for the venue and other costs.

For more ticket information, call Breslin Center Box Office at (517)432-5000 or (800)968-2737.
