Eric McKinneys column endorsing booing in Spartan Stadium (Players will whine, but booing understandable SN 9/19) is completely out of line.
Regardless of the athletic performance by Spartan athletes to he feels he is entitled, booing is classless and immature.
Booing, after all, is whining.
The players and coaches knew they were losing. They could see the scoreboard.
Booing serves no purpose but to whine.
Admittedly, MSU athletics were embarrassed on national television on Saturday.
The team played sloppy, and lost big as a result.
Whose fault was it? The coaches? The defense? Jeff Smoker? Who cares?
It was embarrassing no matter what. But what was most embarrassing was hearing Spartan Stadium erupt into a chorus of boos when the tide seemed to turn against us.
Besides the substandard play showing the nation our team might not be all its cracked up to be, the booing showed the nation our fans are whiners to boot.
So please dont follow McKinneys advice and boo with impunity. Its tacky, and people talk about it.
Were already taking a bum rap in the press.
Lets not add to it by acting like spoiled children when our team doesnt play as well as we liked.
The team doesnt deserve it and the MSU community, as a whole, doesnt deserve it.
