After enjoying its winningest season since 1986, going 13-6-1 in 2001, the mens soccer team is looking toward another tournament run.
The Spartans advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament last year before losing to then-No. 5 ranked Indiana Hoosiers, 1-0.
This year the team is ranked No. 22 and has already celebrated two exhibition wins in the IPFW Soccer Showcase at Fort Wayne, Ind.
MSU defeated both No. 4 Virginia and No. 27 Kentucky last weekend.
The mens team opens the season at home with the MSU/Radisson Soccer Classic. The Spartans will face Wright State at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday and UC-Santa Barbara at noon on Monday. Both games will be played at Old College Field.
The Lady Spartans return 10 veterans from last years team, that finished 10-8-2.
The womens team will travel to Bowling Green for its season opener.
The game begins at 2 p.m. at Cochrane Soccer Field in Bowling Green, Ohio.
