Womens crew records top 10 finish at nationals

The women’s crew team concluded its season with a ninth place finish at the 2002 NCAA Women’s Rowing Championships at the Eagle Creek Reservoir in Indianapolis.

MSU finished with 29 points in the three-day event. Brown won the championship with 67 points. The top 10 finish was the third in MSU’s history.

The Spartans had two boats competing in the weekend’s event - MSU’s varsity four boat and the second varsity eight boat.

The second varsity eight boat finished fourth in the race with a time of 6:50.86. MSU finished behind Virginia, Brown and Washington. Washington won the race with a time of 6:46.39.

The varsity four boat finished fifth with a time of 7:48.57, behind Michigan, Yale, Virginia and Brown, who won the competition with a time of 7:44.24.
