Council to discuss city developments

The East Lansing City Council is scheduled at its Tuesday meeting to vote on whether to convert Ann Street Plaza, at M.A.C. and Albert avenues, from parking spaces into benches and planters.

The proposed changes would cost $10,000, and construction would start later this summer, if approved. Four parking spaces would be removed.

Council members discussed possible misuse of the parking spots at last week’s work session. Some said city employees park in the spots and patrons sometimes leave engines running while they go to area restaurants.

Also on the agenda, a public hearing to discuss proposed renovations to East Grand River Avenue, which could include pocket parks, a roundabout at the Hagadorn Road intersection and several other possible renovations.

The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. in Courtroom 2 in the 54-B District Court, 101 Linden St.
