Jorgensen begins competition as sole men’s golfer

Men’s golfer Eric Jorgensen will be MSU’s sole representative at the NCAA Championship, which starts today in Columbus, Ohio.

Jorgensen, an interdisciplinary studies in social science and secondary education junior, received the bid to the four-day tournament by being one of the top two individuals in the NCAA East Regional from a team that did not qualify for nationals. Clemson’s D.J. Trahan was the other individual winner.

Jorgensen shot a three day score of 219 (75-72-72) at the regional earlier this month, which was good enough for the bid to nationals.

That score was also enough for an eighth-place tie.

The Spartans finished in 16th place at regionals after posting a three day score of 914.
