Spartan Dischords concert marks 20th anniversary

April 19, 2002

The Spartan Dischords, an all-male a cappella group, will celebrate its 20th anniversary today.

The show begins at 8 p.m. in the Auditorium’s Fairchild Theatre. The group began in 1982 with 12 members.

Throughout its 20-year run, there have been roughly 100 members of the Spartan Dischords.

All alumni will be asked to come on stage to open the concert and will sing three songs, “The Lion Sleeps Tonight,” “Michigan State Fight Song” and “Shadows,” MSU’s alma mater.

Sophomore Jesse Lange, president of the Dischords said he was geeked for the performance.

“We brought back some songs they used to sing,” he said. Lange is particularly excited for “Eye of the Tiger,” “Kung Fu Fighting” and “Take on Me.”

“‘Take on Me’ is definitely a favorite,” the voice-general music education major said.

Tickets are $5 for students and $7 for the public. For more information, go to: http://spartandischords.com/
