Dial-up Internet access number to change

April 24, 2002

On May 5, MSU’s Computer Center will be changing dial-up network access. Instead of using the phone line (517)353-3500 to dial into MSU’s network to access the Internet, students must use the new access number, (517)999-2678, or (517)999-2MSU.

The phone line (517)353-3500 also will be disconnected. Although the dial-up service number (517)432-7200 still will be available, it also is being retired.

“It’s primarily a cost savings move for the university,” MSU network manager Doug Nelson said.“The lines at the new number cost significantly less than the current lines, but we expect them to work just as well.”

Students looking for help with switching dial-up phone numbers can log on to www.help.msu.edu/dialup.
