Phyllis Englebert will be seeking support for the freedom of a Middle Eastern prisoner from 4-6 p.m. Sunday in the Northwestern Room of the Union.
Englebert, who is affiliated with the American Friends Service Committee, will be speaking about Rabih Haddad, a Lebanon native who currently is in a Chicago prison.
Haddad was arrested in early December after the organization he worked for, the Global Relief Foundation, was associated with a list of charities used by terrorists to funnel money, said attorney Erick Williams, a member the Lansing branch of the American Civil Liberties Union and Citizens for a Peaceful Lansing.
He hasnt been charged with anything, Williams said. Thats the outrage. How can you keep somebody without charging them with anything? Its unconstitutional.
