Fair to share options for summer in the city

March 22, 2002

The start of spring is bringing a fair to kick-off events and volunteer opportunities.

The second annual Family Resource Fair will be at the Hannah Community Center, 819 Abbott Road, Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

More than 30 exhibitors will fill the center with exhibits to find out about volunteer opportunities, educational classes and summer camps available this summer.

Kresge Art Museum is one of the exhibitors expected at the fair.

It will have information on the museum’s exhibits and activities, said Julie Thomson, museum community outreach coordinator.

“It is a great way to reach the community on a face-to-face basis, as well as talk to people who might not know about the museum,” she said.

The East Lansing Public Library, 950 Abbott Road, is another exhibitor.

Its booth will offer information on summer programs at the library and a chance to sign up for a library card.

“There (is) a lot of great opportunity for families to get ready for the warmer weather,” said Laurie St. Laurent, head of the adult and children services for the library.
