The MSU mens basketball team won its third-straight game as it beat Indiana 57-54 today at Breslin Center.
MSU (17-10 overall, 8-6 Big Ten) has won eight of its last 10. No. 23 Indiana leads the Big Ten with a 10-4 conference record, 18-9.
The Spartans trailed by 16 points in the first half, and entered halftime down 32-25.
Sophomore point guard Marcus Taylor hit two free-throws with 11.2 seconds left to give MSU a 55-53 lead.
On the ensuing possession, Indiana guard Tom Coverdale split a pair of free-throws. Freshman swingman Alan Anderson snagged the rebound and fouled by Coverdale and sunk both free-throws.
The Hoosiers had one more chance to tie the game, but Coverdale missed a triple from the right side as time expired.
The home team has won 17 of the last 18 matchups between MSU and Indiana. Taylor helped keep the streak alive with a game-high 16 points and eight assists.
The Hoosiers beat MSU 83-65 on Jan. 8 after hitting 14 three-pointers, including 10 in the first half. Indiana also shot 65 percent for 48 points in the half.
The Spartans travel to Columbus, Ohio Tuesday to play Ohio State.
