Lunar Dance celebrates Chinese New Year night

February 22, 2002

The Chinese Students Coalition is hosting its annual dance to celebrate the Chinese New Year from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. today in the Union Ballroom. The celebration began Feb. 12 for the year of the horse and lasts for 15 days. The event, called the Lunar Dance, features dancing and singing to commemorate the New Year.

Students are encouraged to wear formal attire. The event costs $8 in advance and $10 at the door.

Diane Lee, co-president of the organization, said the event was designed to promote unity among students.

“We are expecting a really good turnout this year,” the psychology and Chinese senior said. “It’s a social event where people can come together and meet other Chinese American students. We celebrate the New Year together.”
