This weekend enjoy Elsinore Follies, at Creole Gallery, located at 1218 Turner St., in Lansing.
Performed by Lansing-based theater company Icarus Falling, the show looks at the happenings in Elsinore castle told from the gravediggers perspective. Elsinore Follies is a Hamlet spin-off of sorts, and director Jeff Croff said its a very bawdy and farce story.
The play is written by Australian playwright Bill Warnock, and this is the North American premiere for it, he said. It will be an intimate experience for the audience.
The gravedigger is a minuscule part in Hamlet, but here the playwright brings him to the front as a lead.
It his belief that all of the schemes and intrigue going on within the castle walls actually come down to lust, which is the lowest common denominator, Croff said.
The group brought Spike Heels to life last fall, among other productions intended for mature audiences
Elsinore Follies will run at 8 p.m. tonight and Saturday night, and also on Feb. 22 and 23. Tickets are $10 at the door.
