A 41-year-old male student reported his car on fire at his Spartan Village apartment Monday, said MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor. The battery of his 1986 Porsche had died, and after the student jump-started the vehicle, he left it running for 15 minutes to warm up, police said. When the student returned to the car, the engine was in flames. The incident caused $3,500 in damage. The East Lansing Fire Department extinguished the fire. Shannon Murphy
