Police briefs 12/06/01

Numerous items were taken from a 1984 Chevrolet Camaro between 6:45 p.m. Monday and 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, said MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor. A male student reported $1,098 in items stolen including a CD player, CDs, speakers and sunglasses. The driver’s side window was broken causing $500 in damage. Police have no suspects.• A female student reported a prowler outside her Spartan Village apartment, McGlothian-Taylor said. The student was awakened at 1:55 a.m. Wednesday by a scratching at her bedroom window. She observed an unknown male walking away. Police have no suspects and are investigating.• A female student reported $300 in damage to her car, McGlothian-Taylor said. The student’s 1996 Chevrolet was parked in Lot 83 on Service Road. Between 10 a.m. Sunday and 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, the driver’s side mirror was stolen. It did not appear to have been broken off. Police have no suspects.• A female student reported her textbook stolen from the first floor of the Main Library on Monday, McGlothian-Taylor said. The student went to the bathroom and when she returned the book, valued at $80, was gone. Police have no suspects.• A male employee reported damage to his 1994 Honda, McGlothian-Taylor said. The car was parked in Lot 8 next to Student Services. The driver’s side mirror and the windshield wipers were broken. Damage is estimated at $400. Police have no suspects.• A male student reported $400 damage to his 2001 Saab, McGlothian-Taylor said. The student parked his car in Lot 70 near Birch Road between 12:20 and 1:30 p.m. Monday. The vehicle’s right front fender and right rear quarter panels were keyed. Police are investigating.
