Sometimes EPs are better than full LPs for the simple reason that it creates a desire within the listener for more.
On its latest EP, Woven does just that.
Beautiful is glued together by a trance-like electronica beat, all with a mysterious slide guitar seeping into the mix. The title of the song accurately describes its lyrics, which are simply beautiful. They harmonize together with perfect beauty, resonating a hint of Starflyer 59s vocals.
Tesion uses some effects similar to Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, and the vocals on this track are strikingly similar to Reznors.
Steady once again makes use of unique-sounding electronic drum effects that drive itself mad halfway through the tune, with an all too simple bass riff keeping it all in balance.
In the distance of the instrumental, its almost possible to pick up the chirping of birds, but its probably just the tweaking of some mad keyboards.
Who Knows streams along with a Modest Mouse-influenced opening, but transcends into the general theme of the rest of the album. This song uses more of a straight vocal pattern and does it effectively. And the electronic drums - need I say more?
This short release is a great addition to the electronic music fan, but something new and original from the same old boom boom theme of most current projects.
